Drive Freely in Cambodia with an International Driving Permit
While a visa or e-Arrival Card is mandatory for all visitors to Cambodia, an International Driving Permit (IDP) is a highly recommended optional document for those planning to explore the country by car or motorbike. With an IDP, you can confidently navigate Cambodia’s scenic roads, from the bustling streets of Phnom Penh to the temples of Siem Reap and the coastal drives along Sihanoukville.
Many rental companies and local authorities prefer or require an IDP, especially if your driver’s license is not in English or Khmer. It also simplifies interactions at police checkpoints by providing immediate proof of your driving credentials.
Applying for an IDP is fast and easy online, with validity options of one, two, or three years. Carrying an IDP ensures a safer, more convenient journey and gives you the freedom to discover Cambodia at your own pace.

Verify the Visa Policy for Cambodia
The visa policy of Cambodia outlines the entry requirements for foreign nationals visiting the country.
Most travelers need a valid passport and a visa to enter Cambodia, although a few nationalities are exempt for short visits.
The Cambodia e-Visa is the fastest and easiest way for tourists to apply. Eligible travelers can complete the entire application online and receive their visa by email, without needing to visit an embassy.

The Cambodia visa on arrival is issued at select border points and can be used for tourism or business purposes.
This visa is available at certain airports, including Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, as well as select land border crossings.
Travelers should be aware that lines at the border can be long, as the visa application must be completed on-site and processed by immigration staff.
To apply, you must have a passport valid for at least 6 months from your entry date and two passport-sized color photographs.
The visa on arrival allows a stay of up to 30 days, with the option to request an extension while in Cambodia.
Eligibility: Only citizens of certain countries can use the visa on arrival. For example, Nigeria is eligible. All countries eligible for the visa on arrival can also apply for a Cambodia e-Visa online.
Nationals of fewer than 10 countries are required to obtain a Cambodia visa from a Royal Cambodian Embassy or Consulate before traveling, regardless of the purpose of their visit.
Tourist visas issued by Cambodian embassies allow holders to stay in the country for up to 30 days, with the option to extend for an additional 30 days for a fee.
Royal Cambodian Embassies also provide visas and permits for foreign nationals who wish to live, work, study, or conduct business in Cambodia. All travelers requiring long-term stays or special purposes must apply for these visas at an embassy.
Any traveler planning to spend more than 30 days in Cambodia, or for purposes other than short-term tourism, business, or visiting, must apply through a Royal Cambodian Embassy or Consulate.
